- In Jyotish astrology, Mangala is the name for Mars (Chevvai), thered planet. Mars is also called Angaraka (‘one who is red in colour) also called Rakta varna (whose colour is like blood) or Bhauma (‘son of Bhumi’) in Sanskrit.
